Rush Gold is a 25 ml leather cleaner from the Rush range. Its active substance is amyl nitrite. Rush is the oldest and best-known of the poppers brand names; within the range, products differ mainly in composition and bottle size.
A brand name does not say which substance is in the bottle, which is why the substance is named separately here.
Amyl nitrite boils at about 99 °C against 40 °C for isopropyl nitrite, so of the two it is the less volatile one and an open bottle keeps longer. The smell is strong and penetrating: safety data sheets call it fruity, but in practice it is above all a solvent smell.
Safety. For technical use only. Do not inhale or swallow. Highly flammable liquid and vapour — keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Harmful if swallowed: do not induce vomiting, rinse the mouth, drink a little water and call 112 at once, or the Estonian Poison Information Centre on 16662. If it gets in the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. May cause skin irritation, avoid contact with skin. Do not use together with erectile dysfunction or blood pressure medicines. Keep the bottle closed and upright, cool and dark, out of the reach of children.
